Bio:    John M. Dye, ND

Dr. Dye has an extensive background in natural medicine with several areas of expertise. After graduating from National College of Naturopathic Medicine, NCNM (now NUNM) in Portland Oregon, 1979, he completed a special residency program in Obstetrics and Family Practice at SCNM (1981).  He continued teaching at NCNM for many years, where he was appointed department chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology .

Dr Dye's first 12 years of practice focused women's health, including obstetrics (childbirth at home and state-licensed birthing center), pediatrics, and family-focused healthcare.  He was co-founder of American Gentle Birthing Association (AGBA), providing wholistic childbirth education for expectant couples, and training for physicians and complementary providers in safe childbirth practices.  His early practice included extensive use of mind-body healing practices, resulting in remarkably safe outcomes.

In 1992 Dr Dye moved to Sedona, AZ, where he opened a multi-disciplinary clinic and continued to expand his experience in mind-body healing. His program included healing retreats, psycho-spiritual counseling, clearing techniques, laboratory diagnosis, medical intuitive assessments,  detoxification, intravenous therapies, and other cutting-edge therapeutics.

In 1995 Dr Dye began teaching at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) in Tempe, AZ.  His teaching load focused on Endocrinology (hormone therapies) and mind-body healing.  His expertise also evolved to include brain wellness, cognitive enhancement, and integrative approaches to mood and mental health.  He is currently Professor Emeritus at SCNM (now Sonoran University) and where continues to to teach as a guest lecturer.

As department chair of mind-body medicine for over 20 years, Dr Dye developed a full curriculum that included courses in communication, fundamentals of mind-body medicine, biofeedback, neurofeedback, medical hypnosis, naturopathic treatments for mental health, and practicum in mind-body healing.   Although recently semi-retired from his full-time professor roles, he has continued teaching Mind-Body Healing as adjunct professor. Here he has taught a whole generation of naturopathic doctors to explore the narrative and meaning of surface health concerns, including methods to support positive change in thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that facilitate profound healing at a core level.  Dr Dye trains physicians to utilize various clearing techniques such as EMDR, EFT, holographic imagery, bio-linguistic kinesiology, therapeutic breath-work (holotropic, rebirthing) and breathing mediations with a comprehensive natural medicine approach to mental health.

Dr Dye is also well-known for having taught Endocrinology (hormone therapies)

courses at SCNM for 21 years.  In addition to his pioneering work with bio-identical hormone replacement protocols,  he has become a recognized expert in thyroid and diabetes, having presented on these topics at many professional conferences for physicians.  He has managed menopausal symptoms for thousands of women seeking natural hormone replacement and other biological treatment options.

Dr Dye's current medical practice draws upon his advanced skill-set in natural medicine, endocrinology, and mind-body healing methods.

Princples of Healing

& Naturopathic Philosophy

Naturopathic medicine is primarily motived by the intention to restore health and wellness.  We look for underlying causes of illness and strive to eliminate or reduce their negative impact.  We respect traditional wisdom and modern research to employ effective treatment strategies designed to restore function, heal, and optimize human potential.  The focus is less on disease and more on restoring health with natural therapies that optimize the bodies own intelligence for self-healing.

MIND-BODY HEALING

In Mind-Body medicine we recognize the connection between symptoms and the psychological baggage of toxic beliefs, past traumas, fears, and patterns of thinking. The stories we tell about ourselves, our relationships, and specific events will often include clues to 'core issues', or deeply-held distorted beliefs, that justify or explain the current experience.  In 'narrative medicine' we explore and examine these stories and memories, utilizing various clearing techniques and processes to help foster a new, more resilience and affirmative story.  These efforts result in profound openings for both physical and emotional healing.

 â€‹

With Mind-Body medicine patients learn new ways of responding to stress.

Whether we use a healing breath process, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), EFT (a tapping process to help clear stressful emotions), guided imagery, hypnosis, or motivational counseling, or biofeedback.....  All these MIND-BODY healing methods share a common goal...  you are learning new skills... new ways of thinking...  new ways of responding...  news ways of self-regulation... ways of grounding yourself ...  these important skills are especially needed when you're triggered by unwelcome events and core issues that have become a pattern. These old patterns and the symptoms they bring about can be changed as your conscious and subconscious mind develops new resources and new ways of thinking.  Dr Dye is trained and experienced in ways to apply mind-body therapeutics when indicated. These sessions do not require long-term counseling. Significant healing benefits are often seen in just a few sessions.

HORMONES

Dr Dye's practice includes naturopathic endocrinology and the use of bio-identical hormones. Endocrinology practice is focused on hormone therapies.  This includes management of glandular and metabolic disorders such as thyroid, adrenal, diabetes, PMS, menopause (estrogen), and sexual health (performance, fertility).  Naturopathic endocrinology includes nutritional and herbal protocols to help restore normal function of these glands. When hormone replacement is indicated the treatment plan will include the most natural and bio-identical hormones plus complementary therapies to improve efficacy and safety.
